Poinsettia is considered the best flower of Christmas. In cold winter, putting a pot of bright red poinsettia at home feels like lighting a warm fire.
Poinsettia is a perennial shrub native to Mexico. It is said that in the south of Mexico City, there is a village with fertile land, abundant water, and prosperous animal husbandry and farming. The good times are not long. One summer, a sudden mud rock flow cut off the water source, causing serious impact to the region. There was a warrior named Poinsettia in the village. He had been chiseling stones for water day after night. With a loud noise, the water flowed down. Polcherima also flowed down with the water. The villagers searched for it for several days without getting anything. Until one day, a shepherd found a bright red flower with top leaves near the water. Villagers heard that they all said they looked like Poinsettia. Poinsettia liked to wear red uniforms. Later, villagers named this flower Poinsettia in memory of the person who gave birth to the family and took water.
